Working with leading neuroscientists, educators and researchers, The Hawn Foundation developed MindUPTM, an evidence-based teaching model and curriculum for grades K-7 that provides children with emotional and cognitive tools to help them understand and improve their own emotions, moods and behaviors; reduce stress and anxiety; sharpen concentration; build confidence, increase empathy; and improve performance in school.

The 13-lesson program introduces the basic skills that cultivate brain-friendly teaching strategies, attention-focusing skills, and techniques to boost happiness, pro-social behaviors such as kindness and empathy, and reduce behavior problems. MindUPTM also includes activities and techniques to help educators embed these skills and strategies throughout their teaching day across all academic subject areas.

MindUPTM is currently in use in schools (K-7) in the United States and Canada. We are exploring ways to expand the program to meet the needs of children in other settings.

The program is divided into three sections:
1) Quieting the Mind, Sharpening the Focus
2) Directing Our Thoughts and Feelings,
3) Being Mindful of Each Other and the World.
